Temple ponds play a very important role in the traditional hindu religious centers throughout in India especially in Kerala. Most of the temples have their own unique ponds in which the deity will be directly associated with many illustrations in the Shastras.
Temples were always the center point of all social, political, economical and spiritual activities in India. In many of those scenarios, ponds were also playing a significant role in providing drinking and agricultural water resources. In general a pond was working like water reservoir for the entire community during the entire span of a whole year. The proper maintenance of pond and its security reduced the water scarcity during the summer time by increasing the ground water levels.
Due to its significance in life including both a spiritual and materialistic sections, Temples, used to maintain the ponds in a very religious manner.
